A man who bought a car at a Honda dealership shared a video saying he had received a different vehicle than the one he purchased at the store.

In the clip, posted on his TikTok profile, the man explained what had happened. He said that on Friday night (2) he went to a Honda dealership to buy a Civic.
“I did all the paperwork, signed everything, drove the car, loved the car. Basically, I wrote them a check, walked out the door with the car and got home,” the TikToker said in the video.
But the dealership’s mistake came to light when, the next day, he tried to register his new car in the Honda app. When he entered the vehicle’s serial number in the app, he was surprised to see the information that the car was still “at the dealership.”
“They gave me the wrong car. So technically, it’s the right car. It’s what I wanted and everything, color, specs, whatever. But they had about five of them on the lot. So they must have grabbed the wrong one and I filled out the paperwork for the other,” he explained.
This quickly brought the man many legal concerns. “I’m going to have to call them on Monday and get this sorted out, because I can’t have title issues and other things coming up. This is the wrong number for the wrong car.”
“This car does not match all the paperwork I have. Technically, this car still belongs to the dealership,” the man added in the video, which has already accumulated more than 4,000 views.
And his concern is not unfounded. Having documentation for a car whose serial number is different from the one you actually have can cause real headaches in the future.
For this reason, some internet users went to the comments section to suggest a few possible solutions to the problem. “Just go swap the car, no big deal,” said one TikTok user. “Just go back and sign new paperwork for the one you’re in, or swap the car for the one that matches the paperwork,” recommended another.
“I saw something like this once, where it wasn’t noticed for almost two months, while the other car was being sold. Crazy, for sure,” said a third. “It’s not that common, but it still happens, just bring the car back and talk to a manager,” suggested another.
